We are honored to have the talented Barry Lafler back as the 2010 FlameMaster for this event, he will be overseeing the entire competition!
Barry Lafler is a nationally know scientific glassblower and flameworking artist. He has 40 years of glassblowing experience and has taught glassblowing classes at The American Scientific Glassblowers Symposiums, Urban Glass, Penland School of Crafts, Corning Glass, Salem Community College, National Bottle Museum AGI and The Art League of Long Island. Barry is employed at Brookhaven National Laboratory where he manages the scientific glassblowing shop manufacturing and repairing laboratory apparatus and specialized glass equipment. “My artwork reflects my appreciation of the medium and the ability to push it to the limit. I have three main goals: function, texture, and humor - not always in that order. Working with glass has been a lifetime labor of love for me.” |

We
will have several judges from various realms of glassworking to judge
the competition. The competition will feature two heats of artists
competing for prizes in several categories including but not limited to:
People's Choice
Best Vortex
Best Use of Color
Best Inclusion
These prize categories are
subject to change.

There will be several
